Silo Story
You need a right-sized solution for your needs. A small family-run asphalt aggregate company that sifts rocks into smaller sizes came to us with a big problem – their silo needed a new liner. But the paper drawing we received didn’t give us enough detail to build it right. So, we sent someone out to take some measurements of the part and transformed that into an accurate drawing using CAD software. We built pieces to patch all the damage and kept the silo up and running for another year. This gave the company enough time to save for a more permanent solution, which we eventually built for them.
Truck Bed Liner Story
Your business needs to keep running even after a disaster. There was a big slide in one of our Utah mines in 2013. A whole chunk of a mountain collapsed, tore through some buildings, and buried 26 trucks. With no way to haul ore, the mine needed to replace those trucks as soon as possible, so they bought 26 used ones. They ran, but the beds and liners were all worn out in different ways that required a lot of custom part fabrication. We spent most of the year rebuilding those truck beds. It was a lot, but we had the capacity, and we helped the mine to keep running.
Limestone Hammer Story
A limestone company came to us to make new hammers which are used in making concrete. They gave us cracked OEM hammers that had lasted about 4 weeks to work from. We reverse-engineered the hammers using the same dimensions but with a different metal. The OEM used manganese steel plate, which gets harder the more it’s used. Once a hammer gets too hard, it cracks. So we used a less brittle metal and asked them to run one of our hammers side-by-side with an OEM hammer. They saw a big difference – our hammers kept going for 9 weeks. So now they’re shutting down half as often.
Shredding Screen Story
Here’s how we added 600% to the life of a tire recycling company’s shredding equipment. They came to us when the shredder screens and knife blades that turn their tires into tiny rubber pieces fell apart. The screens had lasted about 33 hours before they failed. We replaced the AR 450 and Duroxite® 100 material used to make the screens with Duroxite® 101 screens and a Hardox® 450 base plate with Chromium Carbide Overlay Wire. Because the Hardox® 450 base provides harder support on overlay, the screens ran consistently for 200 hours.
