Custom Solutions for the Toughest Projects

Rocky Mountain Steel Services is the perfect solution for your next steel or metal shaping project. We can custom bevel, form or roll any materials to fit your project requirements.

Plasma Cutting/Flame Cutting

Plasma cutting is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses using a plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas is blown at high speed out of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from the cut.

  • We have two True Hole Technology tables, each 400 Amp High definition.
  • One table at 96″ x 288″.
  • One table at 120″ x 360″.
  • Cutting up to 3-1/2″ thick Mild steel and 2″ thick in stainless.
  • Cutting up to 6″ Carbon steel on both tables.

Saw Cutting

Saw cutting is an intermediary process to prepare steel tubing, rods, channel, and other materials to blueprint length for welding. Saw cutting usually creates a rough burr but can be ground off if the material is to be used as is. Our saws have the capacity to cut up to 13″ x 18″ and 12″ diameter on a 45 deg miter cut.

Beveling

We can machine cut weld bevels on our cut plates with either A, V, or K bevels, both on the ID and the OD. We also Bevel heavy plates with our Track torch system.

Forming

With our 400 ton x 12′ CNC driven press brake, we can form channels, cones, offsets, transitions and chutes etc. We are one of only a few shops that form AR and Overlay plates.

Rolling

Our rolls enable us to roll plate shells into shells specifically for tanks, rolled rings, eccentric cones, concentric cones, and repads. These rolled products can be fabricated from our own plate inventory or from customer supplied material.

Ironworker

Our ironworker has the capacity to:
Punch: a 1-1/2″ dia hole in 1″ A36 Plate and up to a 4″ dia hole in 3/8″ thick A36 plate
Shear: 1/2″ x 24″ wide and up to 12″ wide for 1″ thick A36 plate

Drilling

Rocky Mountain Steel can drill, tap and countersink your Stainless, Aluminum, Carbon steel plates and Abrasion Resistant plates. We can provide both low and high volume orders depending on your custom requirement.

Stud Welding

ARC stud welding involves the same basic principles as any other welding procedure. The weld gun lifts the stud a short distance from the base metal and initiates a controlled electric arc from the power source which melts the end of the stud and a portion of the base metal. We can weld studs up to 1″ in diameter, and is generally used to weld studs to the back of Chrome overlay plate to attach to the inside of liners for ease of installing and removing liner plates in hard to weld or hard to access areas.
